HELP!! '04.5 Anti spin Diff. Working?
We have a 2004.5 Dodge Ram 2500 Turbo Diesel. I noticed the other day that only one tire would spin when taking off and my truck came with the anti spin differential. After further investigation - jacking it up spinning the tires > one went one way the other the other way & holding one tire while punching the gas - still cannot seem to get the differential to engage. Took it to the dealer and they told me "Yes, it doesn't seem to be working". Replace the entire inners of the rear end. Again, still does not seem to work. But the dealership says it doesn't know how these "American" differentials work.
Can' t find a test to tell me the anti spin differentials work.
Have had every dealer I've talk to give me a different story about how the differential works.
So, how do I test it?
Do any of the anti spin diffs work?
Took a brand new one off the lot and it didn't seem to work either. What's up with that?
And how come these dealers don't even know how to test these things?

Welcome to the site RBRam.
There are quite a few threads here about the Anti-Spin diff. in the AAM axle. To get it to work, you have to momentarily apply the parking brake.
Check out this thread" Click Here
Scroll on down and it says to look at Chapter 5, page 237 for operation.
Good luck,

Though the brake idea is stated in the manual. It still should work without the break being on, it only says it helps the antispin diff to work better.
But thanks for the thought.
I did try it. Still broke.
