Hello Folks, another 48re slipping question.

I hope your rebuilt OEM TC is not very OEM.
The factory TC's suck, and if you went this far I think the consensus of a group of tranny experts would say an aftermarket TC would be money well spent.
Let's hope for the best!

I'm working on re-assembly, will post vids when I'm done but I found that somehow I had a gas overdrive clutch (not the one under that monster spring, but the other one), and definitely have a diesel truck. The difference is, among some other things, an additional disk and plate in the clutch. The diesel has 6 and the gas has 5 (with some additional clips etc to take up the physical difference). I had 5 ! The ATSG manual comes through again! Someone at Dodge must have been hungover the day it was built.

the missing plate was most likely that the transmission had been worked on before and the plate was left out, those miles and the kind of service it was exposed to the odds are it wasnt a virgin

I would tend to agree but there is no way anyone had been in that trans before. You can tell by looking at bolts and stuff like that. The differences between the gas and diesel are an extra "wavy" snap ring, a different backing plate, and one less plate and disk. Mine had all the parts in it for a gasser. The diesel has one less snap ring, an additional plate and disk, and a completely different backing plate. I just thought it was interesting.
