I own a 06 mega cab, 5.9, 6 spd, 4x4. Replaced the clutch at 105,000, lost the turbo & the engine at 115,000. Im not real happy with mine right now. Bought a wrecked 06 with 43,000 & swapped engines. Love the room & the way it drives & rides but have bad luck with engines. Lost the engine on my 04 quad cab 4x4, 5.9, 6 spd, at 98,000. I pull a 32' gooseneck trailer for work & get 10.5 mpg. Truck trailer & cargo weigh around 18,000 lbs. I sure don't think i'm pulling the guts out of them with 18,000 lbs. The 06 is stock, the 04 had a Edge box on it, that i ran in the middle. Bought both truck new, if i bought one today i would have a very hard time choosing. If i buy another Dodge i'll be checking into the extended warranty for sure.

Thats horrid luck and down right scary.. Sorry to hear. I thought the 5.9's were basiclly bomb proof, at least for many many miles..

I love mine so far, I bought it in rough shape with 31K on it July 1st, as of today it has 38K, so I'm not afraid to drive it. I did have to replace some AC components to the tune of $400 and my blend door isnt sending air where I need it but I guess thems the breaks. It starts every time, sounds great with the 5in exhaust and will send crap flying all over the cab with the Triple dog in the middle setting (still havent tried the 3rd setting).

I just moved out to the ranch and it has cab lights, a Pro Tech headache rack and a 100 Gal transfer tank...all I need now is a big cow puncher on the front and I will be a happy camper with my cowboy cadillac. I came from a brand new 08 fully loaded 1500 Laramie 4x4 that NEVER made me happy...3+ months later I still smile when I get in the Dodge with the diesel. Mileage is better than my 2000 F-350 with the manual and it has a ton more power!!! I wouldnt own a Ford or Chevy or a 6.7 CTD for that matter, unless it was one I could pull all the new EPA crap off!

I love my 03 it has around 61.000 miles 80% of those miles are pulling my fifth wheel. Replaced no 4 injector line radio and the blend door. My trailer and truck weight is 22.900+ so this go to show if you take care of it it will take care of you. I have used only valvoline oil 15-40 premiun blue. Have oil sample every oil change they said I could go to 9000 miles the test was oil that 6.866 miles on it. So I am very happy with it==good luck

03 in sig with 121K miles has performed superbly! Worked hard with no mods towing a landscape trailer and 8K 5th wheel. In O7 did the listed mods to tow a 13.5K 5th wheel. Tows like a champ. Only problems:
75K replaced factory tires.
95K miles, blew a intercooler hose (reclamped and drove on).
110K miles blew a water pump outside Yuma towing heavy in 115 degree heat. Replaced pump at PEP Boys $220 fix and back on the road.
Love the truck!

Just over 80k miles on my 04. I am not happy right now because everything is going at once. Front axle u-joints, clutch, rear driveshaft u-joints (atleast I hope that's what the noise is and not the rear end). Power windows and locks work when they want. My biggest complaint is the HORRID electronics, they are designed so stupid. Truck was 100% stock except for programmer till 60k miles, lifted around 68k miles. So mods have nothing to do with any of the problems, and I baby the truck like crazy.

As long as I get another 10-15k miles before the next round of stuff needs to be replaced, I will be happy.

There isn't a better truck out there in the current years, but if I had to decide to buy it again, I don't think I would. I would buy a older 12v ANYDAY over my current truck. The Cummins is a great motor, but Dodge's quality has really slipped in the late years, don't build em like they use to!

Like many others have said....I love my truck. It's been great so far.

120K miles.....500+ hp for probably the last 60K. I upgraded my transmission on my own at 88K...but the original was still working fine. I upgraded my fuel system with a Walbro pump and 2 micron CAT filter, but again the original was working fine when I replaced it. Added some other goodies along the way.

The only failures have been...torn front door seals, driver door lock solenoid mechanism replaced, OEM radio ate a CD and a/c blower motor went bad.

Im still on the stock original injectors, cp3, brakes, serpentine belt, batteries, water pump, turbo, ball joints, and u-joints.

I tow fairly heavy when I pull my Toyhauler....I have drag raced a few times at around 8000lbs....(fastest time was 8.48 in the 8th)....sledpulled a couple of times....and dyno'd lots of times. My truck is my daily driver.

Im shooting eventually for 650hp and 500K miles on her.

..

i have bought two 05s in the past month..

I have no complaints on either or for now... But i will say the following in regards to my 12V that i had

Overall at the same power levels, the 12V was a torquier motor, seems to pull better than either of my 05s do at the same power level, perhaps it was the manual trans that did it... i never pulled with an auto 12v..

On the highway, the CR is superior, smoother, quieter, and just a much nicer ride than my 12 valve was. Mileage is less in my quad long as it was in my 12v.. Quad short is a freak of nature, 22 mpg hand calculated on the highway, my quad long only manages 19-20, my 12V did what my quad shorty does.. but was much noisier at it...

conveniance and room factor, gotta give that to the CR hands down.. much nicer interior than my 12V, but then again, not as work worthy, i would rather trash my old 12V any day.. I also like the better AC, and three plugs on the 05s.. and the four fully opening doors on both.. A fella could get used to that...

IN 4wd, basically the same on all three. No complaints, but i do like a posilock for my 3500...

overall, im still bein swayed by the CR.. but i cant say i had anything bad to say about my old 12v.. would i want it back? not in the form i had, but a two door long box 4x4 would make an ideal toy...

bottom line, i still dont trust my CR like i did my 12V, that will take alot of time... but so far i do like them alot...

My 04.5 has a little over 162,000 on it now, and right at 4300 hours. From about 65,000 miles to 135,000 it either had a Quadzilla xzt or a Smarty JR on it. I pulled with it ever day on the stock auto, most days around 10,000lbs, some days more. I hammered it all the time, racing anybody, burnouts, donuts, blowing smoke and just acting like a 16 year old on crack. Finally at 135,000 the tranny started slipping in 2nd gear. I can't believe it lasted half that long.

Other than a tranny that was 100% my fault it has been great.

1 ujoint around 145,000

Lift pump at 140,000

original brake pads lasted until 97,000. the rotors looked great so i slapped some new pads on and they still look pretty good at 162,000

Still has all its original injectors, serpantine belt, water pump, ball joints, wheel bearings, track bar, tie rod ends, shocks, rear brake pads, ect.

It has seen egts as high at 1650 for a few seconds, and held 1425 or so for 5 miles probably 100 times. Doesnt burn any oil in between 8000 mile changes.

The interior is still in great shape, seats still sit ok, no cracked dash, no ac problems, no real wear to speak of on any of the surfaces.

The paint is still in good shape, only been waxed once and still cleans up good.

All in all, i couldn't ask for it to be a better vehicle.

I am really happy with mine. Tow around 38K. I have just over 80K miles most of which is all towing with no engine problems. I have broke a few things like a twisted rear driveshaft and replace the stock clutch but really that is to be expected.
Truck was stock for 45 miles

Only got 45k on my '07. Been running a Bully Dog since day one at the middle setting (90hp?). Truck had a new steering box under warranty at about 8k miles. Clutch is about shot now, will only hold 30-40hp extra in 5th and 6th gear. Otherwise, never a problem.
Clutch should be stronger, but knew it was going to have a short life with the added power when I bought the truck.
Get's 19mpg on the highway at 80mph not towing.

I'm SOHappy with my 2003. Almost 80k. Typical wear items are starting to need replaced, but I figured on that. Never left me stranded. I'm going to need a bigger back seat though, so I'm looking at upgrading next year. I'll miss it.

110k miles and just replaced the tranny. Not bad for towing heavy with the cruise set at 65-70. The tranny had started to slip more than i could stand so I replaced it. Love the truck and would only trade it if I could get a 3500 or 4500 2010 chassis cab loaded with an RV tow body for around 10K
