no! some high hp guys replace the heater grid with a billet piece that has very little restrictions, others that do it, seem to be guys down in the warmer places that dont rely on them. im pretty sure most aftermarket intake horns keep the factory heater grids...clear as mud?

basically if you dont want/need it, you can get a delete piece for it!

The aftermarket intakes does not delete the heater grids, they work over the top of the grid.

The grid is very restrictive and you would get better/less restrictive air flow without it. Unless your below 40* you dont need a grid anyways. 3rd gens will run w/out the grids at very cold temps.

OR you can just run your heater during the cold months and replace it with the spacer during the warm months.

Oh yea it's clear as mud, im still a little confused though. lol

So say I want the GDP intake horn and I still want my grid heater, is this possible or do I HAVE to use a GH delete to run the intake horn from GDP? I don't think i've ever seen my grid heaters. I know I pulled off my horn when I tapped it for the boost fitting but I don't think I looked down inside of the billet piece, you can see it if the intake horn is off right?

I might go down to my shop and pull it off just to look at it. Yea im that boared.

Ok, I see now.

If I did get the delete I would only run it in the summer months. I don't want to do any harm to it trying to get it to fire up cold in the winter months.

You can see the heaters if the horn is off right?

Thanks for posting those links.

Im still going to go to the shed and look at it my self, I have had a urge all day to do something to my truck. Weather it was constructive or not.

Is there a big power gain from running the delete piece and a aftermarket horn?

nope. as i understand it, its one of those things where every little bit helps when you are pushing alot of air. for the average or moderately built truck, very little gains will be had IMO

Ive seen 17HP on a dyno sheet.....but on a 600HP truck. I think its all relative to the amount of air your pushing to start with.

But ive driven one with it in and i noticed a quicker spool up with the stock turbo and the owner said it cut 50-75* from the EGT's under high boost.

Its one of those "every little bit helps"

Ive got access to a AFE "blade runner" and an ATS ARC manifold that were going to dyno on my almost stock 06. When we do it ill do with and w/out the spacer and see what happens.
