Greaseable ball joints

I own a 2004 4WD 2500 TCD and both upper and lower ball joints went after only 42K miles. Would anybody know where I could get some greasable ball joints instead of putting those crappy factory ball joints back in my truck. Thanks!!!

Try napa, they might have a greasable unit, they make replacement U joints for the front axle shafts that are greasable...

Now why the factory did that ill never know, maybe just to screw people out of labor...

I have read that Moog Makes a set. Wait till you find out that the hubs may not come off that easy if you live where it snows and they use salt on the roads. You can ruin the Hub and that only costs 350

Did mine about a month or so ago. Heres some part number and prices from napa. And, they are greasable.

Upper ball joint- P# 260-1580 $75.00
lower ball joint- 260-1579 $75.00
Hub assembly/bearing- BR930502- $161.00

Although you might not need it, make sure you atleast find a hub assembly you can go buy if yours breaks or is bad when you get it off. Napa is usually 2 days away on these. Most dodge dealers stock one or two but you'll probably have to see you bank about a loan before purchacing one. One of mine had some play in it so I replaced it.

Moog makes them now for our trucks. Upper is K7448 and lower is K7467. They are greaseable. But if you only have 42k miles on your truck they are under warranty. All that stuff is powertrain and covered till 70k.

i HAVE BEEN IN THE FIGHT WITH Dodge and they are not covered.
They are on the 3-36 not part of the 7-70 powertrain.
It does not make much sence but thats what I found..

Yep. Thats what I paid. Dealer is charging 350 if they give you the discount. 400+ if not. I get a discount a napa but most napa counter guys will give you the discount if you bring them some donuts and coffee

I would check with another dealer because I was vacationing in VA and live in Ohio and I noticed mine went bad while towing my camper, so I stopped at a dealership in Williamsburg VA to have them check it out and they covered it under the 7/70 warranty, plus they gave me a loaner car at no charge for the day. I only had to pay the $100 deductable. They were wonderful to deal with. My truck was an 03 and had 64K miles on it when I had the service done and this took place last spring. I would definitely check around with some other dealers. Your dealership doesn't seem to be wanting to help you out. Good Luck!

I remember reading in my owners manual that "front and rear drive axle ASSEMBLIES are covered under the 7/70. I got my wheel bearings changed at 67k and 3 new rear end gear sets and a posi at 69,988 miles. The mechanic couldn't get them set up without howling and the posi had a "chatter" that could be felt not heard when turning below 5 mph, so bad the mirrors would "twitch" and be hard to see out of from the shakey reflexion. So just take a few minutes and read your coverages carefully, if I remember the coverages are in a couple different pages of the owners/warranty manualy and worded differently. If that dealer wont cover them go to another dealer. But I would ask why the ball joints are not part of the "drive axle assembly" when the most definately are.

Ok
I have talked to dodge and a lot of dealers that say the same thing.
I have been told they are not covered and had others look into it for me, still not covered.
Please give me names and numbers of dealers that will replace and do it under warrenty. I will call them set it up and drive and have it done.

If this is true I'm up for it please send me info on the dealers and send me the work order so I can show where it has been done and try again.
Also so does that include stuff like Brakes, Tie Rods, Tie rods ends, oil and other stuff. After many talks to dodge and others the Axle assemblies are talking about the housing and stuff like that. There is also a part in the manual that talkes about parts that are made to have wear like tires brakes and other things.
So please let me know what dealers to call and phone numbers.
Also think there is a dealer or 10 on the board " " please speek up.
Remember it is just like insurance and stuff, you can get stuff done it you list it different and fudge the papers. Maybe I need to tell them to do it as a bad gear and they don't do anything to the gear but fix the real problem...
