Got gauges install... Just what should the EGT read on an '03?

I have the following done/bombed on my truck: EZ on 4, 5" exhuast and a Intake. I just installed an EGT gauge (DiPricol) and set out to see what the EGT's are. Now all this testing was done unloaded. Thing is, I read about others getting very high EGTs and I can't get above 900! BTW, probe is PRE-turbo and installed by a diesel mechanic.

idle: 200
idle after warmed up and pulling up to the house after trip: 300
normal highway cruising 70mph flat road: 400~500
Full throttle 0~70mph: 900
Full throttle 50~80mph up slight hill: 900

The truck pulls read good, much harder than stock for sure. Made my Ford buddy jealous I just think these EGT reading are kinda funny and was just curious since I have read that some people can hit 1300* on an '03 and no matter how hard I try the highest I can get is 900. Is there something wrong? maybe a bad EGT probe? I just want to make sure that the gauge and probe are working correctly and I am not actually hitting 1400* If all is normal then I need to find a way to get more fuel in there :P

Don't own a 03, but have installed EZ and Gauges in quite a few. You mentioned a 5" and intake. I think that is the difference between 900deg and 1200deg. Even without the exhaust change on the 03 the intake makes a large temp difference. I would say your pyro is working fine. I will also add that I have had trouble with the only set of DiPricols I installed and do not use them anymore, but I think yours is correct.

You have about the exact same reading that I do, which makes me feel a bit better about mine. When I pull at 30,000 gcvw I can get it to 1100 and the most I have ever got was 1220 deg. That was really romping on it full throttle through the gears up an on ramp just to see how high I could get it. Like you I read of others with all the high EGT temp problems. Rod is sending me a verified EGT guage to check mine against, will let everyone know the results when I get it.

I have a 2003 2500 HO automatic. I have an X-Monitor on mine installed post turbo. I have 3.73 gears with 325/65R-18 tires, X-Intake, 4" exhaust and a TwoPro set on the hottest level. My normal EGT's are right around 300-350 at idle, normal driving 4000-525, a run at 2500 rpm with the cruise locked at 100 mph(3-4% uphill grade) 575-650. My max hot rod EGT according to the memory on the montor is 743. I'm ready for some injectors next.

Nice to know that everything is normal, or atleast a few others have the same results

Gonna do some reading and look into futher modifications. Injectors and a bigger turbo will most likely be the next upgrade for me These diesel bombs are addicting!

Also, with my setup and EGT's I am hitting 35~37psi of boost. I have read that that is the limit for the turbo... or atleast the point to where its just superheating the air. You guys seeing this level of boost as well?

Thanks for the feedback
