The ecm is located on the engine itself, driver's side, about 1/2 way down if I remember right. You can see it without getting under the truck.

Is there any way to find out what flashes may be available for a particular VIN/build date?

Anything on a Dodge website, etc?

Thanks,

DT.

Call up your local dealer and give them your VIN number.

I found the info on http://www.dodgeram.info/tsb/

You can actually look at the TSB and print it out if need be.

I had to print it out and fisically show it to the local dealer berfore he would even acknowledge that it existed.

Asked the dealer about the sticker, as unable to find mine. Tech said"we don't usually put those on". Mentioned that the TSB states "sticker required by law".
Service Mgr. says "OH, I'll go see if we have some". Comes back with "non in stock". Seems law is fairly flexible.

Checked the ECM - no sticker!

Next time I'm out of town I may have to stop by another dealer and pay to have it checked.

No sticker on mine either....hmmm what gives? Was the flash done or are they pulling a fast one? The reason I wonder if they did it or not is because I still have the white smoke at start up, I thought the flash eliminated it. One thing that doesn't make sense...my mileage has improved by at least 2 mpg...stranger things have happened.

I had my truck flashed today (2004.5 2500 4x4 CTD 600 6sp). I've only got about 20 miles on it since the flash (10,500 total), but I can tell a definate difference in the engine, but I'm not sure its for the better. Previously I averaged around 17.5 mpg to a tank 50/50. Figured I'd be greedy and try and get more. Picked up truck today, and noticed that the power comes on smoother than previously, and it appears to be a tad bit quieter. Previous to the flash, while accelerating, when my truck would hit 1800-2000 and the Turbo would start building boost, it was like someone turned on a switch, and the truck would lunge forward with a boost of speed. Now, it doesn't do that. There really is no lunging at all. It accellerates more evenly, and I don't have that thrust back into my seat as I once did. The engine doesn't seem to be as strong.

If I had to guess, I would say that the DC realizes that alot of MPG is lost during acceleration, due to people just punching the accelerator to get going. I'm willing to bet, they somehow changed the fueling curve to smooth out the flow of fuel being pumped during acceleration. That's the only thing I can think of just judging how my truck is reacting. I noticed that my turbo seems to kick in later in the RPM range, however that may just be my mind playing tricks on me. I'd be curious if anyone has a fuel pressure gauge, could check their numbers before the flash and after the flash. Again, this guess is merely by judging the effect of my truck before and after the flash.

Tomorrow, I go on a 150 mile trip there, and 150 back. We'll see how the mpg performs. Before, setting cruise control on 70, I averaged 17.8 mpg. I'm hoping it will go up.

I had mine done this morning. I had an appointment, went in, described white smoke (which I actually hardly ever have) and poor mileage. I handed her a copy of the TSB, and an hour later, I was done.

Invoice only states "ck on TSB 18-037-04". NO sticker anywhere under the hood.

Now, on the way home from the dealer, 35 miles of mixed high speed (70+) driving, and stop and go, I was getting mid-14s, according to the overhead. This is probably 1-1.5 higher than before with that type of driving. I can't tell ANY difference in performance, truck feels just as strong as before. The only difference, and for the better, is that the transmission shifts MUCH smoother into overdrive than before - no more of that nasty "wwwhoooomp".

It's going to take a good week or so of my normal 11-mile stop-and-stop commute before I really will be able to get any meaningful mileage data.

i have t owonder if my dealer was just retarded. I took her down and got the flash,, gained about .5 mpg, Highest gain was .57 mpg haha. but now my overhead is off like 3 mpg as to where it was fine before, and if im runnin down the road or in town ( as long as its a constant speed for a couple miles) and i give her some fuel i can pour the black smoke out like nuttin. Might have to run her back into the other local delaer and see whats up

Been a couple of days since flashing mine. Running good, but don't notice any difference in the sound. Better acceleration at high RPM's. O/H showing 19.7 compared to 17.8 before.(60/40 highway/city,very little stop and go) Filled the tank after flash, and only have 200 miles on it so far. Too soon for a hand calc.

Oh, and no smoke under any circumstances, so far. Also still have the P0630 code. Will give it a day or two, then it goes back.
