If you ask five different people you'll probably get five different answers. I have used Valvoline Premium Blue 15w 40 (non synthetic) since my truck was new and have been quite happy with it.

This is true. Everyone kinda has their favorite oil.

Like John, I use Valvoline Blue diesel oil. According to the UOA, it will easily run for 14-15K miles between changes. I change it every spring. I watch for it to go on sale, and then buy what I can find. Wally World usually has it for a good price, too.

I use Amsoil because my Father in Law is a dealer and I have a bypass filter system on it so it makes sense to me. It is expensive but I hope it lives up to all it's claims.

I used a bypass and do ECI but not terribly long... 15-18k miles. I have a machinist/racer friend who swears by anything Valvoline makes. I use Shafer 7000 semisyn with outstanding UOAs. I've thought about Vaovoline but they don't recommend ECI with any of their oils. Use 15w40 diesel oil. Craig

I have been using Valvoline PB but since switched to Delo 400 since it's usually cheaper and easier to find (like at Walmart).

As long as the oil meets standards, I am a pretty firm believer that brand specific is not very important, but regular maintenance is!
That said I buy a few cases of whatever is on sale typically.

I change my oil once a year and I average 10k-13k a year. Probably over kill but it is better to be safe than sorry.

I have used Amsoil and still do use their gear oil. I have switched to Rotella T-6, 5W-30. Amsoil was too hard to get around here. I use Wix oil filters. Like was stated before you will get alot of opinions and feed back on this topic. This is what has worked for me. Another system to look at is your fuel filtering system. I have added extra fuel filters along with the stock filter. Soon I will also add a fuel pressure guage. The system I added has two filters a water fuel seperator and a fuel filter with a finer micron rating which traps the contaminates before the stock filter which helps keep the injectors clean. This helps when fueling up at stations that have a low usage turn over when traveling across country.
