Getting Hot! Code: P 0483

Guys my 05 is getting hot when i'm not running down the road, I can't even drive it intown, I get code P0483, but I don't understand what the problem is. Can anyone tell me what to do to fix the problem? Is it just my fan clutch or is it electrical, the clutch seems to work, whne I grab it with my hand after stutting down the hot engine.

P0483 is Fan speed, check the wiring to fan clutch. Disconnect the wiring harness from the fan clutch assembly.
NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance between the signal circuit in the fan clutch assembly and the return circuit in the fan clutch assembly.
If the resistance less than 10 Ohms?
Replace the fan clutch assembly.

There is wiring harness that comes out of the center of clutch fan. It goes into harness attached to lower fan shroud, you will find a disconnect plug there. That is where you will test the resistance of the fan clutch. Good Luck

DIESEL ENGINE

1 - NUTS
2 - ENGINE MOUNTED FAN SHROUD

CAUTION: The electronically controlled viscous fan drive is vibration and impact sensitive, especially at the electrical connectors. Do not drop the unit.

CAUTION: If the electronically controlled viscous fan drive is replaced because of mechanical damage, the cooling fan blades should also be inspected. Inspect for fatigue cracks, or chipped blades that could have resulted from excessive vibration. Replace fan blade assembly if any of these conditions are found. Also inspect wiring harness and connectors for damage.

Disconnect the battery negative cables.
Remove fan shroud-to-engine bracket nuts.
CAUTION: Do not remove the fan pulley bolts. This pulley is under spring tension.

1 - ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR
2 - VISCOUS FAN DRIVE
3 - FAN BLADE
4 - BOLT (6)
5 - RADIATOR FAN PULLEY

Disconnect electronically controlled fan clutch connector at lower fan shroud bracket.
Remove fan drive wire harness-to-lower fan shroud bracket mounting bolt.
Remove fan drive wire harness support from fan shroud.
The electronically controlled viscous fan drive/fan blade assembly is attached (threaded) to the fan pulley shaft . Remove the fan blade/fan drive assembly from fan pulley by turning the mounting nut counterclockwise (as viewed from front). Threads on the viscous fan drive are RIGHT-HAND. A 36 mm fan wrench can be used. Place a bar or screwdriver between the fan pulley bolts to prevent pulley from rotating.
NOTE: It may be necessary to loosen the top two fan shroud brackets. Removal of the engine mounted fan shroud brackets is not necessary unless removing or installing the engine.

Collapse fan shroud toward front of vehicle and remove fan drive/fan blade and fan shroud as an assembly.
Remove the six fan blade-to-viscous fan drive mounting bolts.
Inspect the fan for cracked, chipped or damaged fan blades.

Well I believe my clutch is out... But while I was under there, I noticed a piece of my fan shroud was shoved up into the fan... The fan isn't damaged, but I guess from the above reading that the excess stress and vibration thsi cause could have made the clutch go out.....

Anyways the deal is I'm 140 miles from home working and I need to get back today, I'm an hour from a autozone. Is there anything I can do to lock it up? Will turing the A/C on make it work? I have a 16K trailer to haul and very few towns I would have to sit at a light in.
