Look for fun in your future. I guess I would look for any gauges or sign of gauges (screw holes in the plastic, tap in the exh. manifold, A-pillar oddities. Also, I wonder if you could go be a dealer and ask about a ECM check, TSB history, etc.

Even if a person had a tuner & gauges, it is probably all good. But you do want to know if they were running something that runs hot like a Diablo and no gauges.

Good luck bra.

your best bet is to get an electric "history" from the dealer. Good suggestion jmccart!

I had a co-worker.......apprentice go out this weekend and buy a cummins on me same year and color. Although he didn't have the sense to get a stick

If he woulda talked to me first that is exactly what I would have told him jmccart. I agree with you that it'd probably be okay anyway.........but you never know some guys just don't care. He didn't get any service records with it and he was asking me the same thing dieselpower5.9. I told him to go ahead and change all the fluids and get a good starting point for everything. Then I changed my mind and told him to do everything, but the tranny. Thinking that if somebody has been beating on it pretty good and it's running fine right now he might want to hold off and save up a lil' dough before dropping the pan. To help with the shock factor of having to do some work in there if needed. What all could they possibly find if they drop the pan to change the filter and do a fluid flush (most likely just a band adjustment?)? Should I just tell him to get it done or stick with what I told him or hold off and go with what the manual says for trans. fluid change? I'll help him with all his other fluids, but the tranny flush in an auto sounds like a pain inducing DIY project.

It's kinda funny the jobsite I'm at might have about 80-90 rigs parked in our lot, and I think 6 of them are gray 4X4 quadcab CTD's kinda cool! Then there are maybe 3 more 2nd gens! Nice ratio huh? Couple PSD's and DMAX's but CTD's are in force!

Edit I think his rig has about 70K on the clock.
