I have noticed several questions about the 05s coming out with a different 6 speed and that it is made by Getrag. While researching trying to find a oil to change out my NV5600 I ran across this article http://www.autointell.net/nao_compan...pe-reorg03.htm

Looks like Ford is going to use Getrag for its entire European line and possibly others.

On edit: looks like this is old news though.

 

IT's NOT a Getrag... it's a Daimler G56. Made by DC, not Getrag.

 

As Joel pointed out the G56 is not a Getrag. The only Getrag trannies going in Rams are the 4.7L 1/2 tons.........

 

So does anyone have detail on the G56? How do they compair to the NV5600 trans?

Why in the world would they put a trans in the CTD with less OD gear than what it currently has? If anything, you would think they would have made OD a bit taller to improve MPG at higher speeds..... Doesn't make since to me.......

 

Maybe... just maybe theres a 7th gear in the works... Im tired of shifting to a gear thats not there. + did you notice that reverse appears to be slowed down a little... from the high reverse speed I'd a thought these things were made in France.
