Gears... 3.73 or 4.10?
What do you gusy recomend for a 4x4 diesel? I'm looking to up the tire size... and maybe later doing lockers and gears if needed. Is it worth buying the LSD 4.10 upfront? or not?

well IMO it all depends on what your planning to do with your truck. With the G56 3.73 are standard and from what i hear thats just about perfect. I have a 48RE and i think my 3.73's are great also. If i was going to pull real heavy and didnt mind having high RPM's and less MPG, then 4.10's are the way to go. It's just depends what your looking for. Good luck and dont forget the CTD has a bunch of power and shouldnt have a problem pulling whatever you want with either gears/

Right now I have the 3.73's with 295/70's and that is not a bad gear combo, small amount of power loss but not much. Anything bigger than a 33, I think I would like 4.10's which if I go with 35's next I think I might try to swap ratios. Hope that helps.

ok, so I should get the 4.10's b/c I'm looking at at least 35's. I won't be towing much. mainly it'll be camping gear and work equipment, nothing real bad. I've got 5.29's with small 35's on my 4runner and at 70-75 i'm doing 3Krpm. perfect combo. But i'm not sure about this diesel thing.

i pull heavy and i run 3:73's i wouldnt get 4:10's unless you plan to climb mountains loaded all the time get the 3's and chip to get power it will work better for mpg's. at for what you want you probably wont be happy with the lower gears

I agree with this and spec'd my truck with 4.10's for the very reason that I would be putting 35's on the truck. Now that those tires are on the truck, the RPM's and pulling are spot on. With the OEM wheel/tire combo the 4.10's were a tad high IMO.
