Thanks Luke! I'll pass on the sport package, I'm partial to the chrome.

Re:Gear Ratio question

Bow Hunter, the prices on the truck with options you requested are as follows

MSRP:$44,435
Invoice:$39,713

These numbers do not include any rebates, we will have to take the $500 Farm bureau rebate off, and then whatever else DC decides to put on them around the first of september. As I stated earlier I will sell for invoice($39,713) mius the Farm bureau rebate, minus the other rebates due to be out soon.

Thanks for your time,
Lucas Schneider

Re:Gear Ratio question

Hey uh Bowhunter, I'd say that is a pretty fair deal. That is about what I paid for mine and it is an SLT w/o leather, heated seats, etc. Plus it has 3.73's, AND it's an 03. Besides all that, Luke is a prominent figure with good info on this site, always lays it all out to share with us, so you can be confident he is not going to pull it over on ya, because he has all of us as witnesses to the deal. Luke, I admire your honesty and integrity in a business where those two factors are becoming scarce, as witnessed by many posts on this forum.

Re:Gear Ratio question

Thanks for the kind words old school 8) You are very correct about the professionalism of the auto industry. I had a guy tell me saturday that he had called 15 dealers before he called me. Mostly big city dealers because he thought he would get a better deal. He said out of the 15 most of them wouldn't even give him a price over the phone. I shot him a price and he asked me to fax the specs to him so I did. He said the other dealers wouldn't even fax him the info. Long story short, he came in saturday morning and bought a truck. I made enough to keep my doors open and yet still give him a good deal. Thats really all customers want, a fair deal, to be treated like a human being instead of an idiot, and a no pressure environment. I shot Bowhunter a price, but I am not going to keep badgering him everyday as many dealers do, if I quoted him a good enough price he'll buy, it's that simple.

Re:Gear Ratio question

Ok I will be the odd ball here, I did a ton of research on the ratio/tire size/engine RPM deal some time ago and arrived at 3.73's for me because I wanted to run a 33" tire. Running a 35" tire would call for 4.10's especially if you plan to tow.

My combo produces 2000 @ 70 and IMO is spun up plenty fast cuz mpg's start to drop at that threshold. Had I got 4.10's I would have felt the need to go with 35's.
I tow 6000 lbs in the mountains and the power/rpm's feel just right. A friend of mine just got a 5 speed 03 with 4.10's and he is already looking for taller tires to compensate.

Remember your dealer can recal the computer for 33's for accurate speedo and overhead computer calculations and i believe that is the max size which must be chosen from a list in the factory scan tool. Go over that and you will always have to remember that your speedo/odo and overhead puter are off a little.

You can run some calcs on the various tire sizes you want to use at:

Re:Gear Ratio question

Matt400, thanks for the response. What brand of 33's are you running? Also, is there a webpage where I can view pics of your truck with the 33's installed, or would it be possible to email me some pics?

Thanks.

Take a look here http://www.turbodieselregister.com/u...mp;albumid=925

The pic is an older one and I have changed the grill and added a few other things like Line-X and Nerf Bars.

If you like I could email you also.
