Gear change and speedo.

Gear change and speedo.
Help.
Do you have to change the speedo setting after changing gears? I swapped my 3.73's for 4.10's. I think the speedo is out and the tranny has been shifting "weird" since. My dealer is clueless saying they can only alter the tire diamter.
If the speed input if from the rear differential then the tire revolutions per mile would stay the same. If it's taken from the transmission, then the number can be altered to reflect the change.
The truck has been at the dealer all day. They just called me to tell me they don't know what to do. They did this when I went to 35" tires without a problem, but now they are stumped.
Any advice is appreciated.

You got something else going on.The speedo reads off the tone ring that is afixed to the ring gear housing. In another words there is no need to correct a speedo with a gear swap.Older trucks had the speed sensor reading off the tranny.3rd Generation trucks it reads off the tone ring in the differantial so its automaticly reading the correct revoloutions. They may need to adjust transmission detent cable on the shift issue or see if theres a TSB for a flash on trans shifting etc.

I could be wrong but I don't think so(cya LOL).For the 1 milliom dollar prize the correct answer is YES! Tone ring to speed sensor to speedo. No need to recalibrate with a differantial gear change!

Use the SEARCH function of this forum.I'm sure this question has been asked a few times in the past.On top of that any minorly decent D.C.tech ought to know there is NO speed sensor in the trans any longer.Engineers incorported the ABS,Speedo and maybe a few other functions to the TONE ring instead of having seperate sensors, reading from differant areas of the vehicle. In fact I bet most if not ALL Chrysler products evolved to this several years back. Its just simplier. There is not a speedo gear like in yester year any longer.

Thanks a lot. I just called my dealer and told them not to change a thing. The tranny issue, is a TV cable that I adjusted the day before I did the gear swap, and now am remembering that i might have done incorrectly.
It's all coming together now.
Thanks a lot for the info.
