G56 Growl

My truck has approx. 30k miles on it now and the transmission has started to make an growling type noise in 3rd and 5th gear until it's warmed up, which only takes a couple of miles. I pulled the fill plug and there is plenty fluid in there as it started to pour out. I changed the fluid approx. 15k miles ago with Valvoline ATF+4, any ideas?

Oddly enough, this started just after I took it in for service to have my AC recirculation door fixed.

Thanks!

Not sure if the problems are related. Only thing I can think of is if they needed to mess with the shaft boot or something while trying to get into your dash? I guess you could TRY different fluid and see if it has any effect.

Yeah, you could check to see if the shifter housing & boot still have all of the bolts present and tight (insulation too)... in case they were trying to figure out how to remove the dash.

I have read of another guy who had problems with the Valvoline ATF+4 in his G56. I believe his issues went away after returning to Mopar ATF+4. Wally world has it for a reasonable price too.

We'll I changed my transmission fluid, but it didn't change a thing.

So I removed the shift boot and found that the inner rubber boot was pushed down to the point that it wasn't sealed against the shaft, making every little sound audible depending on which gear I was in. I simply pulled the boot up to its proper position and now it's as quite as a mouse again.

This would be the third issue I've had to fix due to taking it in for service to repair the AC recirculation door under warranty. Just another reminder on why I hate it when the dealership touches my truck.

Thanks for the suggestion Roperteacher!!!
