I wonder if both trannys were available, as an either or option on a new ride, what most people would "opt" for?? CAST IRON or old beer cans??

I have had both 6 speeds, and i would take the g56 hands down if both were offered. Its a nicer transmission than the nv5600 at least to me. I have 2 buddies that just traded in thier 03s for 06s and they all agree the g56 is sweet. I think its the best cummins tranny do date. I didnt know they made transmissions out of recycled beer cans. Please quote your source.

I have a friend that hauls full time and just gernaded his G56 in his 06'. He spend a week in OKC waiting for a new tranny. Dealer couldn't get any parts. The dealer finally replaced it and charged him $7000, yes 7 grand. He regrets not getting the auto which held up without any failures i his previous truck.

Wow he broke the Gunk-56 just hauling trailers?
And I thought they just broke when you sled pulled them twice!

Repeat after me class:
My G56 is a good tough tranny. My G56 is a good tough tranny. My G56 is a good tough tranny.

$7K???....ouch!! Was it out of warranty due to mileage? Is his truck stock? What sort of weight is he hauling? Seems like there's gotta be some in salvage yards for a lot less than $7K
