Max torque runs from 1600 all the way to 2600.

Cummins says that the engine should run in the 2150-2250 range at 65.
You can play with PowerSpec here.

I think if you check on the new 2007 Dodge cab&ch you will find that DC has quietly fixed the high gear problem with the G-56. I think they dumped the initial G-56s on us in 2005 knowing that the gearing was wrong and now have fixed it so that both the 3.73 and the 4.10 gears are available. Look at the new G-56 specs. for the 2007. 6th gear has more legs. (low balled again by DC).

I don't think they changed it. I can order 07' Ram pick-up's right now, all ready ordered a couple. With the G56 the only gear ratio available on the pick-ups is still 3.73's. I can spec cab&chassis but can't order them, it will let me spec either 3.73's or 4.10's and I believe that reason is that some commercial customers in certain applications may want to gear the trucks even lower than they are now.

so, by that chart you ought to be able to get the gears then and and change out the 6th gear to get the higher gears right?

I also find myself fishing for another gear when I hit the highway on a pretty regular basis, I was just too embarrased to admit that at first.
