Funny Dealer Story...Will they ever "get it"

I've been doing all my own mainentance on my 2006 CTD 4x4 QC, Including the dreaded "front driveshaft lubrication"

So I get the F19 roll over valve recall, and I figure it's about time to change the oil 14,000 miles, so I'll pay the extra $$$ to get the front driveshaft lubed, since I'm getting a "free" fuel filter form them anyway.

Well return to pick up my truck, and invoice says "N/C, factory sealed u-joint". I mean Edit is going on here? I have done this myself, it even says in the Edit manual where the joint needs to be lubed, and I've seen the pictures on DTR.... Edit man, will the dealers ever get it? That's why we don't trust you guys.

Fuel filter?

Did they replace your ff as part of the recall? I had the recall done and getting ready to rr my ff, but not if they already did.

They will only replace your fuel filter if they find water when they open the filter drain.

It will state on your recall receipt if the filter was changed.

When I had my recall done they did not replace my fuel filter. They said that they look at the fuel filter and are only replacing those that have water in them.

My dealer (usually good guys to work with) is quite loud about the fact that my truck does not have a lube point on the front drive shaft. I even showed them the picture that I took (the one in my gallery) after I lubed it at 3,750 miles. The guy at the deal says, "Just because it is there does not mean it is to be serviced." When asked why the maintenance schedule lists it, the owner's manual lists it, and there is a sticker under the hood; he just shrugged his shoulders. To quote him again, "Maybe DC needs to update their technician training."

For me, I'll do my own maintenance.

Took my 06 in for the second oil change and lube. Dealer does it for 29.95 tax and all so I that seems good to me. After reading the input on this site about the driveshaft lube, I asked the service writer if this did include the driveshft lube. He assured me it was a "COMPLETE" lube job and not to worry. I happened to be in the lot when the truck was brought out and I asked the "LUBE MAN" about it. He said there is no place to lube the driveshaft on Dodge trucks. I mentioned the sticker under the hood and was told that "they have all been to the latest tech schools" and "he knows for a fact" there is no lube points on the front shaft.
I guess I'll make a trip to Napa and get the needle tip and take care of this myself.
I assume at 7k that it should still be "OK?"
Got home opened the hood, wiped the oil drips off the cover, drained a qt. from the pan.
Is it really worth it??????

I wonder too sometimes..

Had the old ball joints done a couple of months ago under warranty, needed a new stereo too. They ordered one and it finally came in the other day. Went to the dealer to have it installed (shoulda' just done it myself, but again, it was warranty work).

Service writer said "Oh, looks like it's been 3,000 miles since you were in last, you need an oil change" (and yes, he was aware that it was a CTD).

I said "Uh, not according to my owner's manual, I've got 4,500 miles to go".

Him: "Not if you like you're engine."

Me: "Uh, I'll pass. I do it myself at home anyway."

Isn't it great how these dealers are? They can't even perform regular matinence. Imagine if they had to tear into your engine, trans, or rear?

Most care about $$$$$ only.
Don't know or care about the product they sell...as long as they get your $$$$.
Was at a dealer today looking at a mega cab.
The salesman did not know anything about the vehicle or the warranty, but he sure could crunch numbers.
Most of these dealers and service centres are truly morally and ethicaly bankrupt.
And to make matters worse, diesel is 20 cents a litre(80 cents a US gallon) more than reg gas here today.
I've HAD IT, I'VE HAD IT, I'VE HAD IT!!!

....and ...no..I don't feel better now...

Nothing is wrong with his rear, he's just trying to hang on to his wallet at the dealers
