you want good mileage? get an economy car.

you are driving a 7000+lb 4X4 diesel truck with 35" tall tires, 6" of lift, 300+ hp and 600+ ftlbs on tap. the newer CR motors are not known for good economy.

check your air pressure. air filter. driving style. short trips kill mileage until she warms up. no idleing. moderate fueling box

Your Edge with Attitude is a fueling box that messes with the Timing and Durattion. If you have a lifted truck with larger tires and an auto and 3.73 gears pulling that kind of weight you are not going to get great milage. That and the fact that your odometer is off, telling you you went less than acctual traveled miles is realy gona make it look bad. If you bought the truck to get milage while towing return it to stock. You realy need to get your speedo recalibrated though so that you know your actual miles traveled. That alone will make a difference in how your calculation turns out.

I have an economy car. I expect far better than the 7 mpg that is for sure. Just got rid of a 1999.5 FORD F250 same size tires & lift getting 12 mpg towing I at least expected that from A dodge.

Thanks bkrukow.
But dont you think i should get better than 7 mpg? I do!!!!!!!! With my speedo being off then it would really reflect even worse yet. I believe I have a bad set or miss matched injectors. I have been speaking DR. Performance in Idaho. He says they are running across allot of stock trucks with bad injectors.

You also understand that putting on those big tires dropped your 3.73 ratio down to 3.36. So if you are keeping you same driving habits. You are using more fuel to move the meats. I am sure you noticed right away that you lost power with the tires. Rolling resistance and higher gears mean more fuel used to keep at same performance as smaller tires. Plus the 05 are know for worst fuel mileage. You got the extra 10ft of tourqe. That seemed to cost about 2 mpg to achieve that. Plus you have an auto. All these factors are coming into play. This is why alot of these guys with the 3.73 want to swap for the 4.10 once you put bigger tires on the 4.10 don't really have the fuel mileage issue. So maybe swap your gears

ALL OF YOU GUYS WHO USE THE OVER HEAD CONSOLE TO FIGURE YOUR MILAGE, YOU SHOULD DO AN ACTUAL MANUAL CALCULATION. MY OVER HEAD MILAGE CONSOLE IS VERY INACURRATE. IT WAS READING 10 MPG.
1st thing turn your caps lock off. Like everone else said:
with your tires your speedo is off 10% and your ODO is also off 10% meaning you actually went 253.2 miles, not 230.2 making your mileage 7.8 (not a whole lot more but more nonetheless). How fast were you driving on your trip? the faster you go the lower the mileage will be. I can drive under 60 and get 15 mpg, if I run 70-75 it drops to 12 mpg. towing the same weight. you have way too much tire to be pulling that weight with 3.73's, 4.10's will help you alot. Finally tire pressure will play a big part in your mileage, you need to run all your tires @ close to their max pressure to get the best mileage
