It may be a good idea to also use a fuel additive at the same to help out.

You are correct. Towing heavy will fix a MPG issue with the quickness. I tow heavy once every 1 month and a 1/2. Keep everything working well and carbon free....LOL

I have been using that Baldwin fuel filter pf7977 and Fram paper air filter and now using the power sevirce again and will try this out for a while. My daily trips are usually 8-10 miles somedays and then 30-50 other days.

kkime,

Well if you have a Loews or Home Depot near by then every 40-45 days on a Friday night go buy load of cement blocks (at least 2500 lbs worth) an load them in the bed of the truck, if you have a trailer buy 3-4 ton worth of blocks. Saturday drive it for 3-4 hours non stop, on Sunday return the blocks for a refund.

I can get 10 mpg in the city if I have my foot in it!!! I usually get my best mileage in the city though, on long streets at 40 mph, I get amazing mileage, kind of like long flat roads at 60...

I'd like to take it on a race track and just run it at 50 or so and see how high my average would go.....

Its to the left and above the oil filter you should see a black cap covering where the plug hooks up that you need to remove so that you can hook up the cord.

The mileage in my 2006 mega Cab Dualie is poor as well. I just chalked it up to it's the way it is. Mine has the HO motor with an Auto, 3.73 gears, AFE Air Filter set up and Super Chips Programmer. I get around 14 driving to work all back roads and on the highway doing 70 or above it gets 15. Pulling a 28 Foot trailer at about 8500 lbs on the highway, I get slightly over 10. Tried all the settings on the Super Chips programmer except the new economy mode which I just found out about as well as stock and it seems to do the best on the performance setting. My old 97 with 3.55 gear stock would go 17-18 on back roads, 23 on the highway and 15 pulling my trailer, but it is no comparison to this truck in power and comfort.

Add me to the list. I have a stock 6 speed, 06 quad cab, 4x4 and the best mpg I have ever been able to get was 18 going 60 mph for 300 miles. My truck came with 245/70-17's and I am considering going to 235/80-17/s to help a little. 60 mph is right at 2000 rpm. At 70 I get about 13-14mpg.

You must have the 4"10 rear end if at 60 mph your turning 2000 rpm. I have the 3:73 rear end, and at 70 mph, I'm turning 1950 rpm. Assuming no head winds, I get 18 - 18.5 mpg at 70 mph. Pretty darn good for a 7000 pound truck.

I'm not certain but I think I got 3:73 becuase I only hit 2000 rpm around 72-73 mph and not sure at 60 but it's pretty low at 60, so I dont understand the poor mileage it doesnt add up to me.

I wonder if how the engine was broke in makes a difference on how good or bad when it comes to fuel mileage...

Speedfreaks,

Every 2006 SRW truck I've seen in my area came stock with 265/70/17 tires.

The lowest mpg I've gotten this winter was 14.95 mpg during temps down to -27 below, today's fill up the mpg is back up to 16.1 mpg for 80/20 combo driving.
