Fuel line disconnect/lift pump
Does anyone know if the disconnect at the frame has a fuel shut off? I'm getting ready to pull off the lift pump and need to know if I need a catch pan or disconnect at the tank. Also, are there any affordable alternatives for a lift pump?
I'm told there are several "stock" pumps, and the dealer can only put the in tank pump on it. NAPA shows one, but its 400 dollars plus.
Thanks for your time,
Doug

If there is still fuel in the lines, it may siphon if the line is lower than the top of the tank.
Don't get a replacement cansiter mounted pump... they have a horribly high failure rate. You can get a raptor 100 fairly cheap and run it to the stock filter location easy as pie.
I've done a couple, if you have questions, ask.

Geno's has a stock replacement for less than $200. It is easy to replace. No need to disconnect the line at the tank, it will not siphon. Disconnect is less than 2 feet from the pump.
If you must spent $400, get an after market pump it will last longer.

Thanks for the replies fellas. The truck is not running, so I'll have to to fix it in the grass by the drive way or tow it somewhere to be fixed. Looks like it'll be the Geno's pump.

You can get to the pump through the driver side finder well. Remove the finder liner which is easy. There is an O'ring that seals the pump to the filter canister, be sure to lub it before installing the pump. You may need to go under the truck to get to the quick disconnect on the line.
