wellmax,

The filters I listed above are the best 3 to use with the Baldwin PF7977 as the best then Donaldson P550800 and Fleetguard Stratapore. As for Wix don't use them as they do not meet all of the latest factory specs for filtering.

+1 on Baldwin. I buy mine through adiesel.com - which reminds me, time for another order.

Fuel injectors and diesel additive

When I got my '03 3500 HO I started reading all I could and asking diesel mechanics about filters. Consulting Cummins, all they will recommend is Fleetgard which is a very good filter but I found out Cummins does tests and Fleetgard meets all of their requirements.

I use Cummins fuel filters, 7 micron, mainly because other brands do not fit my filter cap for some reason and it is the same as purchased. I've tried Auto Zone, NAPA, Advanced, etc., and none will let me put the filter lid back on. I purchase the fuel filters from Cummins and find their prices is as good as most auto supply stores.

Oil filters I have been using Fram. Can't afford Dodge brand which is made by someone other than Dodge. Have had no problem with Fram as yet. I change fuel and oil filters every 5K. I know a lot of you guys use Baldwin, I just didn't want to make the swap since I haven't had any issue with the Cummins brand.

Geno'sgarage.com is another good place to shop for filters.

The Fleetguard is a good filter but why would you not want to use the Baldwin filter as it filters better then the Fleetguard and has a larger dirt holding capacity? As for using a Fram oil filter I sure would not use any oil filter that uses cardboard to hold the filtering media in place like Fram.

BTW Fram oil filters only filter in the 35 micron range where the Fleetguard filters at 25 micron, Pureone claims 20 micron and the Donaldson ELF filters your oil all the way down to 15 micron thus keeping more harmful dirt and gunk out of your engine keeping it a lot cleaner and help it last longer.
