Fuel Filter Replacement

I found the fuel filter replacement in the DTR WiKi. What do you lube the o-ring with? I tried doing a search for fuel filter and I keep getting a blank page and when I go back a page it says I have to wait before I do another search.

I just use a little of the fuel that I've captured from draining the filter housing.

Oil is good, Diesel not so good. The ULSD seems to lack the lubricity and can cause the O-ring to pinch/nick. I use a thin layer of Dow O-ring lubricant and have never had a problem with any application. BTW, not good for oxygen O-rings (compressed air OK), makes loud noises, launches O2 bottles without clearance, irritates co-workers and may spoil your employment record

At least with the Fleetguards, that's why they changed the o-ring, which is now yellow to indicate the difference. Been using diesel to lube the o-ring for years now and not one leak or hiccup.

I use the balwin think its PF7977 could be PH7977, I get it from truck shop Peterbuilt, they service cummins motors, about $12 bucks a pop, I always have 2 or 3 under my back seat.

The o-rings are designed for diesel.. If they couldn't work with diesel they wouldn't seal now would they.

Thanks guys. I decided to go have someone else do it. Got my local lube place to do it for only $25 plus tax! I bought the filter from NAPA for about $22. If I had bought the filter from them and had them put it in they were going to charge me $130!!!! That's almost a 400% mark-up!!! Oink!!!!
