Front and Rear Diff's

OK I get a smokin deal from the dealership on oil changes 29.99 but they want to charge me 240.00 to change the front and rear diffs. I have searched and found the rear has a 4.2 quart capacity. Does anyone know what the capacity of the front is? I will probably buy the Mopar lube unless you guys talk me out of it.
I wonder if it's too early to buy myself a Christmas present and spring for some aftermarket covers?

If you're doing it yourself, don't use Mopar fluid.

Royal Purple,Redline,Mobil 1,Amsoil,Valvoline,all have a synthetic fluid that'll work fine.

I gave you 5 choices. I've personally ran Mobil 1 and Royal purple in my 2500HD (the same rear axle on our Dodges). I wasn't about to pay almost $30 a qt. for GMs fluid.

Both worked fine. When I change my fluid out in a couple months I'm going with Royal Purple 75w-90,in fact its already in my garage.

Front diff takes just under 3 quarts just did mine today. Running the mopar stuff this time, trucks been in and out of the dealership for rear diff issues, they don’t like to see the purple stuff.

That way you could run whatever you want the rest of the time. I used to run Royal Purple 75w90 fr and 75w140 in the rear.
Why go through all that hassle? It says right in the owners manual that the fluid needs to be a GL5 rated 75w-90. It doesn't say a thing about having to use Mopar oil. If Dodge required you to use their oil, they would have to provide it free of charge. You don't think Dodge is gonna start giving away gear oil do you?

I remember the rear being about 6 and the front right about 3. I am running Amsoil 75W90 syn now, haven't had any problems. And the cost was about 1/3 what the Mopar stuff was going for.

Valvoline use to supply all Mopar lubes.Don't know if any changes in 5 or 6 years. The dealer techs I know don't buy Mopar fliud due to cost! lots of purple stuff used. All I used in previous trucks.Swapped to Amsoil due to ease of ordering and delivery mainly.
