To get past the stupid ball you just need to push the needle in with a little pressure. The needle that lost lake posted works fine for me, I just can't find the darn things this time around.

I have 07 5.9 & mine has it . I just finished removing & re-installing my drive shaft after greasing that small hole.It was hard to do on the truck & I couldn't tell if grease was getting to the spot. I don't think mine had ever been greased

The "syringe" looking needle works better, it'll get the point of the needle inside the eyelet. Also, be careful how you move the needle, they break very easily.

I will be taking on this task next oil change and as someone has said before I think the techs before probably just said "ya we greased it". After a newbie at the local oil change shop removed the filter on my civic and not the oil and just added more oil filling it to the brim I decided I cannot afford to let anyone work on my cummins. I have marine grease in my gun for use on my boats bearing buddies, is this grease cool for the dodge? Thanks

Yes, that grease will work fine...

just my opinion, buy a few of those needle grease tips, they break and bend super easy...

I give mine a few squirts every time I change my oil (7500 or so miles). My driveway is sloped too much to jack up the front end, so I take the chance that the truck is in the position to grease the fitting. If it's not, I'll check it after the next time I move the truck. I use the needle fitting also, but I use one of those pistol grip/squeeze grease guns that you can pump one handed. I also use the flexible rubber hose type attachment. With one hand I stick the needle in the hole and press it hard enough to push in past the detent ball, the other hand holds and pumps the grease gun, and in my mouth, I hold a small pen flashlight to see what I'm doing. The first time I did it, it was tricky to find, but ever since then, it's been a breeze to do. Oh, and I do all of this on a creeper! That's why it does not bother me too much if the grease fitting isn't in the right position, and I just try again later.

If the grease for your Bearing Buddies is the blue marine grease, it is probably aluminum base instead of lithium base like automotive greases. I have been told that they don't play well together. If all the lithium grease was cleaned out first, I'm sure the marine grease would be just fine, but I wouldn't mix them.

I also took some wax paper and taped it up all the way aroud my drive shaft after I filled my fitting. This allowed the grease to sling on the paper making it MUCH easier to clean up than letting it sling on my truck.
