Front Diff Whine/Howl?

Front Diff Whine/Howl?
I just bought an 05 Dodge 2500 QC SB 4X4. It has a billet ats transmission in it with co-pilot. I noticed that it has what sounds like a whine/howl that seems like it is coming from the front of the truck. Really it could be coming from anywhere in the chassis, but sitting in the cab it sounds more towards the front.
I first thought for sure it was wheel bearings, but I changed them and it still does it. Truck has about 65k on it.
I am curious if the fact that it has an ATS billet trans is making a whine sound because it has such an aggressive converter and downshift? Does anyone have this same problem that has an ATS trans?
The whine is usually more apparent when letting off the throttle, but is heard all the time at most speeds except real low speeds like below 20MPH.
I changed the tires too just to see and that didn't make a difference either.
I pulled the front diff plug which is magnetic. It has some fine metal shavings on it and the fluid is up to level. I was going to change it soon when I get a chance anyhow, but is there anything I could look for inside the diff to see if that could be making noise like something out of spec in there?
Any ideas?

my 99 and 05 make that sound, its either the turbo, or the heater hose(there was a tsb on the heater hose back in 99).doubt its the diff. if it were the wheel bearings u could check for play. If u r worried about the diff, pull the cover and check the mesh, look for misaligned gear pattern wear, shavings in the oil etc.Doubt its the diff, both my trucks make the same noise accel or decllerating betwwwn 25-35 mph only. It doesnt have me worried.
