Front brakes
I've only got about 19,000 miles (almost all city/stop-n-go type driving) on my '06 and the front brakes are noisy...sounds exactly like wear indicators rubbing on the disks when braking lightly. No noise when braking hard. Lots of brake dust since new. Is there any chance the pads are gone already? I did a search and most people are seeing much higher mileage before replacement but I'm also assuming a lot of highway driving. I drive like an old lady and don't tow.
Also read that OEM pads are best. Is that still the general opinion?
Thanks, Scot

I had read that someone had a pad come apart and others that had picked up debris from 4 wheeling. I would at least take off the tires and see what it looks like maybe you will find something easlily corrected. I did pads on mine around 50k and then had to replace the rear calipers a while later as they seized up. I think my front calipers are starting to seize now with a little over 100k. I used egr brakes for caliper/rotor and pads when calipers needed to be replaced. I will probably do the same when I replace front calipers.

DON'T get the Dodge value line brake pads. I made that mistake, trying to save a few bucks, and i've never seen so much brake dust in my life. You can wash your truck one day and the next day the front wheels are discolored by the dust. JUNK-JUNK-JUNK!!!!

Does it stop ok?
If it doesn't, your brakes are shot...
If it does, worry about it when it stops braking normally...
Brakes make noise sometimes, that's normal...doesn't mean something is wrong with them...

most owners on here say the factory pads last the longest of any other after market pad-which i don't disagree with. i got 86,000 miles out of my front pads. i just installed new front rotors with akebono pads. we will see how this set up works.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Driving like the old lady may be a issue. Have seen many, city drivers that accumulate debris on linings, causing a noise at low speeds. Many times a few high speed brake apps will cure for a while. Taking pads off and sanding on flat surface will also clear noise up. Lots of tubes of snake juice are avaliable to quiet pads also.
I use Advance or AutoZone pads with very good results. No junk on wheels, stops good and straight, no noise(not a city driver), not death to rotors, good wear and free replace when worn out. What more can you ask for?????

Thanks for all the input, guys. I was just being lazy, figuring there's no way possible the pads could be done in under 20k miles, so really didn't want to pull the wheels off it. Brakes work fine, no issues aside from the noise. The noise, btw, isn't really that bad but still annoying. I'll take a closer look if it gets worse or continues.
