Ford man drives a Dodge
Before I purchased my new Dodge I contacted my cousin, a 25 yr heavy diesel mechanic, about which vehicle he thought was best diesel truck for the money.
The company that he works for has purchased several F 250-450's since 2000.
He just sang the praises of the Ford vehicles, so much so that I actually went to the Ford dealer and drove a loaded F350.
When I called him that evening he was severely dissappointed in my coments.
It does'nt handle well, has no power, noisy, gets poor fuel milage, cheap interior and try to find anything in that engine compartment
When he saw and drove my 05 3500 4x4 this weekend these are his comments:
under hood:"You've got a lot of room in here"
start up: "Boy they've quieted these down"
getting on the highway: "Whoa! I guess I'd better back out of it a bit!"
passing: "70-90 mph punch it and it's there! It never seems to run out of power"
windy road: " The Fords feel so squishy up front, how do they make these handle like this?"
Now he finally understands my license plate frame:
"If it ain't a cummins its just a breathin' hard"

I contacted my friend that is a heavy diesel mechanic working on a lot of different rigs. He said that his number one choice is a cat engine, but the very next thing was the cummins just for the mechanics of it all. Inline 6 cylinder with less moving parts with more tourque than a V-8 that Ford and Chevy will ever think about.

My oldest son was a Cummins tech for 4 years, my youngest is a hotshotter running a 1999 3500 chassis cab dually with over 350,000 miles on it. Of course they both swear by Cummins. They about threw a fit when they heard I was considering a PowerStroke. I am glad they had me look at a Dodge. I love my Cummins!
