Flywheel Resurface?

I have 224k on original clutch. Dosent slip or chatter however i have to let the pedal out alot before it grabs. I believe i can make it to the spring before i change it. My question is should i get the flywheel resurfaced? Are there any visual signs that i should look for?

Always have the flywheel resurfaced. The new clutch will be a true surface and it needs a flywheel with a true surface to work correctly. You may not feel or notice any problems but that is because the flywheel and clutch have been wearing together. New clutch and non resurfaced flywheel equals problems and the trans coming back down.

I second the flywheel resurfacing. Its apart and not allot of $$ so do it.
Don't want to be doing a later!

At 224K miles, you might just consider replacing it. Sometimes heat cracks can be a lot deeper than they appear.

When I take one apart, I always replace the pilot bearing and the rear main seal as well. Good insurance against costing you more money, and also having to take it apart again soon.

Not sure what kind of clutch you are getting. I know sbc has an upgraded flywheel with a ball brg instead of the stock needle brg. In the dodge service manual, they talk about not taking off more than .005. Something to do with hyd wont move that far. Not sure if its bs or not, just telling you what book said. I just had my stock one resurfaced, turned out good. Make sure you find a machine shop that grinds the flywheel with a 3 stone machine. Not a lathe, as it just jumps over the hot spots. The stone machine also uses a lube/cutting fluid. Had mine done for around $50cdn. SBC dealer said it was cdn for the better flywheel.

I will be replacing my rear main seal as well. han solo thanks for the advice on the grinding, sounds like that would be much better than a lathe.
