Talking Flux 2's

Brown truck delivered yesterday afternoon.....a mere 4 days after I sent them off!!!! Kudos to Don @ F1. I can't believe how much better the truck idles and the throttle response is night and day difference. I managed 302k miles out of the stockers....I think I did pretty well. Maintenance and filtration is the key there.

All 6 bodies were good but the internals were slap wore out. Only took about 30 sec for it to fire....I was impressed with that. Just for grins I set a cold beverage on the valve cover after I started it and the can never even moved!!!! How's that for smooth idle?

Also had my machinist neighbor make me a grid delete spacer on the "super cheap" . Again, I can't believe the difference in the engine....it runs like a brand new one. Going to give the new pieces a little break in time before seeing what it'll do......pretty antsy about that.

Thanks to Don @ F1 and James Northum of James Trans Tech!!!

Did you have the stock bodies rebuilt or new bodies with the Flux 2 tips? 180k on my stockers and trying to understand what I should do when injectors need to be replaced.

What symptoms caused you to decide to replace?

Yes, Don rebuilt the stock bodies with all new internals and the 100hp nozzles. I started noticing a drop in fuel mileage and then they started rattling like crazy in cool weather upon acceleration. Also started noticing that upon deceleration the rpm's would hang up at about 1200 or so for 10-15 secs......sometimes a lot longer.

I'm extremely pleased with the results even though the cost was a bit more than I expected because of the full rebuild for all 6 bodies. Hopefully I can get another 300k miles out these.

Glad it worked out so well for you!

What was your turnaround time for getting the injectors back? Did you use any fuel additives to help you get to 300k?

Turnaround time was 4 days!!!!! Couldn't afford to be down any longer and Don knew that from the start. Shipped 'em out on a Monday morning and had them back that Friday afternoon. As for additives.....yes....I've used PowerService since the truck was new.....every other tank. I used the truck for a Hot Shot business for a little over 2 yrs. In that time I was covering around 3500 miles a week. I would change the oil, oil filter, and fuel filter every weekend.....probably overkill but I feel that played a huge part in the longevity of the hard parts. I just felt like a $5 fuel filter was too cheap not to change it. Now I run an AD 150 with a CAT 2-mic filter that I change every 6 months or so. 2 yrs and around 225k miles all I had to change was u-joints and 1 FCA. Truck is now at 310k miles and still rolling fine.

I sure hope Don didn't hold him up for 5 months......that just doesn't sound like him at all. Hopefully the 5 months was how long it took him just to send them in to Don.
