Fleetguard Oil Filters

What is the real difference (besides $3-4) in the Stratapore LF16035 filter and the standard Fleetguard LF3972?

I bought the Stratapore but not sure why I did. I must have fallen into the it's mo' betta if it's mo' 'spensive trap.

Fluted bottom. Since the new(er) model trucks make it so much harder to get to, they figure you should use a filter socket and extensions and come from beneath.

On my 2001 I used to be able to lean over the side and grad the filter with two hands and get it on/off no sweat, this 2006 is an entirely different beast.
I spun the hex out of the cheapo filter socket I bought when trying to get the OEM filter off......

I would get the newer style.

I have 2 of the 3972's on the classifieds, just decided to get rid of them rather than fight with em.

They are both fluted. the LF16035 is a stratapore the 3972 is a standard filter. The stratapore is better.

D'oh.

Disregard my post, I got confused by the numbers.

You will certainly want the Stratopore over the standard. My point on the fluted bottom still stands though, the 3rd gens are tight up around the turbo/oil filter area.

Plus, I was using a LF3894 on my old truck, neither of the other ones.......

the Stratapore filters more with less obstruction...easier flow better filtering

the filtering material is not paper like most other filters........CHECK THIS LINK OUThttp://www.cumminsfiltration.com/en/...ratapore.shtml

What's a couple of extra bucks over a term of 7k miles.

3894? Huh? Is that for an older model CTD? Geno's lists the 3972 (standard) or the 16035 (Stratapore) as the filters to use for 03-07 CTD's. I've got a 16035 on right now and it seems to be running fine. I hope I got it right.

Stratapore's are synthetic media which reduces obstruction and the other one is conventional cellulose media. Stratapores are not better because they are more expensive. They are better because of the synthetic media and reduced obstruction. Less obstruction = better flow + filters finer particles = LESS WEAR.

LF3894 IS the 16035, just without the fluted end. That's what I was trying to say yesterday.

Yep
A dollar difference between the two as well.
