Angry Fleetgaurd fuel filter discontinued.

I ordered new filters, and discovered fleetgaurd filter has changed for 03-07 models:
Old part number: FS19579
New part number: FS19856

The new filter has cheaper top and bottom plates, and installation, i had to really force the filter in there.

The same media, but they did skimp on the overall quality of this thing.

I used to use the Fleetguard as well until I found the Baldwin PF7977 is a much better filter. Filters to 5 microns. Many people here swear by them.

Yes, this change was made some time ago. The FS19856 provides 7 micron filtration as opposed to the 10 micron filtration of the previous filter. I believe it was to meet the new filtering requirements from Cummins outlined in this TSB.

Rob, I purchased 5 of the older versions, so I ran out, and used the new one, I am looking at it, going ***? I am switching to Baldwin.

one thing to note. I run only Chevron no2 (the same fuel source) and the occasional Propel B20. The fuel bowl in the canister looks PERFECT. Totally clean, this is impressive.
