fan works sometimes. Truck overheating

I put my plow on . Truck is getting hot don't hear the fan going. But two days ago it got hot I stopped the truck let it sit for a while cooled down when I was driving home the fan would cycle on at around 210 then off . Truck never got hot. Today 220 and climbing . Have to stop let it cool off. No fan again. Fan will only turn maybe a 1/4 turn when i spin by hand. Also my ac hasn't been working

The fan is operated by a thermal switch in the water system. Typically, when your symptoms occurs it is because the switch is uncovered by cooling water. Make certain the system is full. When cool, remove the radiator cap and fill to capacity then run the engine with the cap off making certain no air pockets remain. Then install cap, run the engine until completely warm. Then fill the overflow bottle to the hot(high) line. You are most likely losing water somewhere, perhaps the water pump shaft seal. Do not run the truck until this is sorted or you will warp the cylinder head.

I did the water pump last fall . I'll check the level when it's cool. No sign of any coolant in the driveway or garage.

Truck only runs hot when I have the plow on in the up position and driving. While I plow(only my own driveway)the temp stays below 200 . I can tow all day long never climbs over 200 guess it's just airflow

Coolant is full as is the overflow. Could it be just the sensor?

In defrost mode the AC compressor is running and your fan should cycle as it would running the AC in the summer.

Its not uncommon to have the plow setup block the air flow into the radiator on any of the trucks new or old. That may simply be your problem. Drive it with the defrost on and see if its ok.

Scanned it today. Don't have the code handy but it was for "slow fan speed" getting a new fan. That was the only code it threw.

The fan is controlled by the ECM with PWM signal. There is no thermal switch. Only the coolant temp sensor reports coolant temp to ECM.

OEM clutch???
Otherwise there are issues like wiring not match with OEM, wiring failed to make contact at connector. I read that from forums.

Yes oem dodge fan . Can I jump the sensor next to the sensor . I am pretty certain it's the one next to the thermostat housing?

Pin 1 on the clutch connector is the fan clutch control.
Grounding pin 1 will request fan on 100%. It requires a few seconds to ramp up and down in speed.

You can use a switch to control the grounding of pin 1.
Trouble code DTC 0480 would be set after grounding pin 1.

This is the coolant temp sensor.
It's NOT used to control the fan.
