Fan Clutch or Water Pump?
I noticed that when I shut the truck off this week it acts like everything stops faster and there is a loud rattle that sounds like one of my loose tool boxes but its coming from the front half of the truck.
I could be wrong about the truck shutting off faster but the rattle is not in my head .
I have also noticed, but I am not sure if it is a loose wire, my rail pressure will idle about half of normal at some points (sometimes all the way down to triple digit numbers) , but then pick back up to normal and I can't hear the change.
I don't notice any abnormal smoke or idle, but since it started having a weird shut off it also sounds like its being restricted on start up.
Could this be a fan clutch symptom?
A water pump issue?
A CP3 or injector problem?

Have someone turn off the engine and stand at the front watching the fan clutch and if it turns more than a couple full turns that can be a problem with cooling and some racket. Or you can leave the engine off and spin the fan clutch and see if it spins very much and move it backwards and forwards and see if it has movement. It can also be water pump barrings so take the belt loose and move the shaft back and forth and it should be pretty tight. If its loose you will be able to tell and if you cant go to the autoparts and let them show you one and turn the middle shaft and see how tight it is then you will know the difference. Big difference. Thats all I can help you with. Good luck bro.

Unplug your quad race box and replug it back in. Sometimes my RP will drift low due to a loose connection. Unlplug it and reconnect, my idle RP values, while in park, come back to normal. It may be time for a new serp belt and tensioner. The tensioner can make that type of rattle.

Now that you mention it, it has been doing the odd readings since the last time I unplugged and changed the downloads.
If its only the belt I'll be happy with that (unless it splits before I get to it).
