I have done many searches on this but didn't really find what I was after. My 04.5 is a long box- cat and factory muffler are still on. I would like a little more sound from it but don't want the dreaded drone while towing. Know it only too well on my bobmbed 95 ctd with a 4" straight pipe. Is the drone there still on a long box if I remove the muffler and keep the cat?

 

Yes, they rattle and drone with just the CAT. I had to put a muffler back on to tow with it and not drive me crazy, and I have a 10-15% hearing loss.

 

Drone with mine when I had a muffler delete. Check out the MBRP replacement.

I did a muffler delete on my shorty 04.5, ended up putting the stocker back on due to drone. Wasnt real bad unloaded, but towing it was horrible. Sure did sound mean though.

 

My exhaust is stock except for replacing the muff with an Aero 4040L. I'm very happy with the setup. Sounds good, no drone.

 

mine is a SWB; however, when I had the cat off and the Hog muffler, the drone was bad - putting the cat back on definitely helped......is it gone, no.....tolerable, yes.

 

O4.5 SWB lost the muffler kept the kitty. Great sound, but is loud when towing.

 

makes you wonder if the engineers at Chrysler didn't do this to keep us from taking the Cat off! I have a brand new mbrp straight through 4 " muffler that I forgot to put on my 95 . Maybe this with the cat gone would not drone too bad when pulling?
