What are you taking delivery on an 05 or 06? The jake has a Mopar number for 06 but not covered under warranty for 05 unless you find a dealer who will give you warranty for an 05.This can also be a problem down the road some day so get it in writing.

hmm so i was wrong
nope the 05 automatic is not covered under warranty. the dealer might install one for u, depending on the dealer, but dont count on it as warranty. only the 06 models are warrantied for automatics with exhaust brakes as of right now

I don't think it is likely that the pre 2006 Dodge Ram with automatic transmission
will be approved for use with the exhaust brake, at this point. It has been approved for the
2006 model year, but I don't think that Dodge is comfortable with the idea of retrofitting the
earlier model years, due to the reliability of the transmission interface. Sorry for the bad news.
Thanks for the inquiry.

Without a smart controller to keep the torque converter locked up an exhaust brake on the autos before 06 are not going to give you any holding power. The 06 auto has a few changes done to the programing to keep the converter locked when you let off the go pedal.
