exhaust brake on auto

Can an exhaust brake be installed on a truck with an automatic transmission? I have an 04 I just got The last day of Sept. Haven't pulled anything until this weekend and haven't pulled anything superheavy yet but I'm bad about loading over what the truck is "supposed to pull" when I do load heavy. Used to have an 01 v10 and went through brakes in less than a year two or three times. Just want to stop that before it starts.

There is a good thread on the TDR at the top of the 3rd gen Engine/transmission forum.

Carlton Bale is a Cummins employee, and he as been reporting status of the approval for the EB and the 48RE.
