Exh Brake for 05
My new 05 3500 drw 6spd should be arriving at Dave Smith sometime this next week. Going to have them install a exhaust brake. Was going to get a Jacobs for warranty but my salesman says it will be a PacBrake with a warranty waiver for that piece. All my Dodge buddies say PacBrake is the way to go and if this was a used veh I would agree, what do you guys think?

I have an 04 and got the Jacobs brake installed at the dealer when I bought the truck. I really like the switch on the shifter. If the pac brake has the switch on the dash you may not like it. I also had a loud hissing when I apply the brake. I found a loose vband between the butterfly elbow and the turbo. Tightened the vband and am a happy camper with the Jacobs.

I have had a PAC Brake for just about a year now and have had no problems with it. You can have the button switch mounted on the gear **** as well, I don't think many installations are done on the dash. The air pump is typically mounted on just below and behind the passenger side battery which means when it runs you hear a buzz from it. It only makes short bursts when the brake is applied and if everything is working correctly shuts off. It will be about a 2 second buzz. It is not offencive and surely does save on the brake pads. Would highly recommend the exhaust brake to anyone whether you pull a load or not it will save you money on brake jobs in the long run. I just looked at my rear brake pads the other day and there was still 60% at 115,000 km (71,000 miles).

I have the Pacbrake. Had a broke "pressure switch" and the compressor would blow fuses after the new switch was installed. Pacbrake sent out a new compressor. Great company. I will never tow without it again... We went down a steep grade into the Lake Tahoe areas before the brake was installed and the trucks brakes got so hot they were smoking. Now, the same trip the pacbrake holds the truck back without touching the truck's brakes. I also have the shift mounted switch...

Any pro's or con's on the De-accelerator made by US Gear? On another forum board it was recommended. The person said it installs in the exhaust (before the cat?) under the truck and has an electric option to operate. Great back pressure etc. Any experience with it here? It was also noted that Banks sucks A** and their tech support is a bunch of monkeys
