engine oil poll!!

Whatever the dealer uses. I have lifetime unlimited oil changes with them. What a deal.
I feel everytime I go for a change, that is another 80 - 100 off of the sale price. Makes me feel better that i got the truck.

I used to use Rotella, but like others, switched because of the stink. Mobil Delvac 1300 is in stock at my local store (right up the street - can't argue with that), and they finally got rid of the stupid foil seal, in favor of a plastic pull-up spout (like they have on the 5-gallon buckets). As an added benefit, the spout is the perfect diameter to fit inside the fill hole, and support the entire bottle.
Yep... for me, it's ALL about the packaging

I thought I had decided on premium blue but since I can't find premium blue or delvac I have decided to try the Rotella again. It has worked for me for three trucks. It might as well work for the fourth(unless is smells like everyone says)
Thanks for all the good input!

[i] I was told that it is because the crankcase breather hose hangs right on the drivers side and puts out all of that stinky rotalla vapor!! The ford I had never did this because it uses an egr. [/B]
The Cummins doesn't have either PCV or EGR, apparently the Ford has both.

WallyWorld SuperTech 15W40 oil and SuperTech filter. Go ahead and laugh everyone !!!! The oil is Cummins approved so what the heck!! A fair bit cheaper than the others that have been mentioned. Heard that it is bottled by Pennzoil/Quaker State anyhow. Ran my '99 for 150k+ on the stuff. No problems.

Hey Dorkweed where were you when I asked about supertech 15-40 on a thread I started the other day? I'am planning on doing the same thing, except I prefer fleetguard oil filters. Did you tow much using supertech and does the truck burn any oil, the 99 that is? I have not completely decided due to the extreme temperatures we experience up here. I suppose I could always switch to Rottela T 5-40 for the winter months.

Hey Bluebull, of the 150k I put on my '99; probably close to 100k of that was with a trailer on her. I usually changed the oil at about 5,000 miles and maybe she'd be a quart low at times. Dad drives that truck now and doesn't tow at all and does mostly short trips, but the truck still runs great.

I switched to Redline at 24,000 KM for everything - Engine, Diffs, Auto Trans, Xfer case...
I did the changes one at a time so I could judge any differences. cannot say I noticed any difference EXECPT when I flushed out the transmission & replaced with Redline C+ - definite MPG increase, temp drop & drive train type sounds were less.

changing out synthetics with just 5k miles on the lube oil??? that is way overkill i think...
right now i am using duron 5w40 synthetic and oil changes come 2x per year for me [±10,000km on the oil]
