Ems Locking hub kit on a 2007 DRW
I just got through installing the EMS kit that eliminates the unit bearings on my dually...Went smoothly, took 5 hours including a dinner and a few beer breaks
I was impressed everything needed came with the kit other than bearing grease and tools
I really liked how the Lockout ended up being flush with my lugnut cover!! I used the 4" holesaw i bought for my b&W Hitch
I will report back later on how i like it mileage etc...I Hand calc every tank so time will tell if there is a noticeable improvement in mileage. I already love the 2wd low...its like the fords i have always been used to!

Never heard of the EMS kit before. I really like how they look on the dually. Be sure to keep us informed on the quality and what it does for driveablity in the long term.
Anyone know if the kit for the 2500's is flush or nearly flush with the cap like on this 3500 kit?
Mike

I hope you dont mind my asking but I like the electronic switch to go from
2wd to 4wd in the cab of my truck.. its nice when it starts to snow or rain really hard and dont have to get out to lock the hubs manually. So i ask you.. why would people want to install these hub kits for our trucks? I have heard something about ours not being rebuildable from the factory and the kits are.. what does this mean? What are the benefits of this kit?

plus you should never have to replace the bearings in the kit...just clean, inspect and repack every 50k miles or so
The main reason i did it was 2wd low and a peice of mind

I will be looking into one of these kits I had my dually on the rack the other day and my 06 has 125K on it, the truck has been in 4-wheel maybe 10miles since I have owned it. The U-joints on the front axles were wasted. Hoping this will help the problem.

Does the kit come with the u-joints for the font axle?
What is the approx cost of the kit?
I would also like to do this but am waiting for the front to either fail or if the front axle u-joint or balljoints needs to be replaced I will do them all at that time. I would also try and plan to replace balljoints with greasable ones while everthing else is taken apart. Looks great! I cannot wait to hear how the mileage works out.
This kit, greasable axle joints and greasable balljoints would be a great addition to any of our trucks.
Thanks, Jeff

it cost me a little over 1800 bucks shipped to my door with the chromo 35 spline stubs, i reused my stock ujoints because they only had 11k miles on them and still looked great...
drive to work today was very nice, there is a noticable difference in steering and rolling resistance

Just wondering, are the axle shafts held into the housing via c clips or do the slide out after the outer unit bearing has been dis-assembled. Im thinkin of doing this same conversion on my truck. Any online install directions??
