EGT and Boost info please?
2006 Auto with 4.10 rear end 4x4. 86k miles. Lots of air in and out mods, Smarty 06 with latest software, but not real fuel mods like pump, injectors, etc... or turbo. My question is, with the Smarty on ANY level with or without the Quadzilla boost fooler, I can never see over about 34lbs of boost. Even when towing heavy or light. Is this normal? The main question I have is, where I live in Eastern Montana, elevation is around 2700ft. When just cruising at highway speed on flat land, without a windy day, my boost is usually around 12 to 20lbs. Just seems really high to me. Is this normal? Going up 5% grades with cruise on at 75, boost will get to 20lbs plus empty. Truck has always ran great too. Always ran this much boost too.
Now EGT's. I have an HTT cooler, BD air horn, S&B intake, ATS exhaust manifold, Diamond Eye Duals. When empty on ANY setting with Smarty, and playing with rail pressure, timing, etc..... I can just barely see over 1200 WOT. .....but, when I tow my 7k lbs 5th wheel which is really light, I can cruise right over 1300 degrees really easy pushing the truck up a hill on ANY Smarty setting. This seems high as well with that light of a trailer. The other thing I will mention, the truck will not downshift with that 4.10 rear end until I get to around 58 mph. So, I can be going 70 mph and hit the bottom of a hill, and while the truck has plenty of power to accelerate up the hill with this camper, I cant because the EGTs will soar over 1300 degrees. So, I have to slow down to below 58 mph and let the truck shift so motor revs way up and then EGTs will drop down to 1000 right away. Is all this in spec with the rest of you guys or do I need to look into something? I usually run empty and tow on level 1 on Smarty and EGTs still will go over 1300. Thanks for help.

Your boost is just a little low. If I recall, when I had my stock turbo, it would max out at 36 psi and I could spike it to 38 psi.
That's about the limit of the stock turbo, it's just too small.
Your EGT's sound normal also. Again the small turbo.
Contrary to all the advertising, all your bolt on's do very little for performance or EGT control on your stock truck. ie, air intake, air horn, intercooler, exhaust manifold, turbo back exhaust.
IMO, you have reached a point where you need to upgrade your turbo.
Which turbo(s) to choose is a difficult decision. Take your time researching.

Thanks guys. I kinda figured it was pretty close to normal. Just thought I should have seen a little more boost and a little lower EGTs with the smarty. I hear so many post and even a reply from Smarty stating that it should be impossible for my truck to reach anything over 1300 towing with the Smarty on level one or three. I know that when the time comes, I will be calling you up soulezoo......you are the turbo expert.
