As I look at many of your sigs, I see that many, maybe 50 %, maybe even more (especially in the 1 and 2 gen) have manual transmissions. My question is, did you guys have to order it that way from the factory, please don't tell me that you found it that way on the lot. I for the life of me could not find a manual tranny truck last year when I was looking. Heck I was lucky to find a Cummins to begin with. If there was one thing I could change about my truck, I'd get rid of the 48 re and go with a sweet 6 speed. BTW- 6 months ago, I looked at several large dealers in the region, upwards of 30 trucks, from 1500's to one ton 4X4 mega cabs- ONE 6 speed truck, and it was a QC LB 2006 CTD LT, rubber floor, roll up windows, dark gray grille... EVERY single other was an auto tranny.

Had to order my 2003 that way.
In Nov/Dec '02: out of 3-4 local dealers not one had a stick shift in stock. All were non-HO automatics (this was before you could get the HO engine w/ an auto)
ditto with the Ford 250/350's though I didn't look nearly as hard - but every one I saw was an auto also.
hopefully there's a demand for them as I'm thinking about selling the '03 and ordering an auto '07. I don't tow heavy and do do see a lot of city driving so I'm considering beta-testing the new 6 speed auto for you guys.

I bought mine used. I would have been good with auto though. I just think that standards are fun to drive. But some of these auto trucks are freakin fast! I don't think I'll ever have a 13 sscond 6-speed. No big deal.
It used to be that most Dodges were standard, and most Fords were auto. Now that Dodge has a better auto, it's hard to find 6-speeds. But in Albuquerque, there seem to be an ok amount of 6-speeds...but more autos.

I was in a similar sutuation to yours, when I bought mine. I was looking for a 6 spd. long bed srw. The local dealers searched within 500 mi. and couldn't come up with a manual, let alone a long bed. I ended up searching the net myself as best I could and ended up buying one about 700 mi. away from home. Not to mention I got it for about $4000.00 less than the locals had quoted me. Good luck!!

When I went truck shopping and the sales gal asked me what I was looking for and I told her, among other thinks, six-speed tranny, she stopped in her tracks and said all of their trucks were auto's. I looked at my wife and said, OK, dear, lets go.
She stopped me with, what if I could find one? I said let's see if you can, and she did find one about 250 miles south. We made the deal, they brought it up, added what I wanted added and I drove home with it. It did take a couple of days.

Mine is an Northwest Alabama truck. It was about 500 miles from me. Took about 3 days to do my deal. I had the same experiance as some of y'all, 6SPEED!!!!!!!! It was like they wanted to run away and get an easy sale off the lot. Made friends with the internet salesperson and he was up for the challenge.
Not sure where your at in NY but it could simply be because there isn't much demand for them up there. People tend to act on impulse. "I want a 6 SPD, we don't have one but we have several auto's. Well let me look at one...... SOLD" Insert $.02 here()
