Driveshaft Clearance

Driveshaft Clearance
I Have a Cabover Camper and would like to put the fresh water tank under the bed of the truck. I have a long bed and there is an unused space in front of the fuel tank between the frame and the driveshaft. Can anyone tell me how much clearance I should allow between the water tank I install and the driveshaft or tell me where I can find out? Thanks

GMCTD you make a valid point. The fuel tank clearance is 3 inches. I was hoping I could have a clearance of 1 inch or so to get as large a water tank as possible. Doesn't seem possible that the driveshaft would wiggle (for lack of a better term) around so much that 3 inches of clearance is needed but maybe I'm not considering all the possibilities?

Yes, you need to consider chassis-flex when mounting anything to the frame - f'rinstance, what will happen when you drive up a steep parking lot entrance at any angle but straight - also, if your mounted assembly adds additional stiffness to the driver's-side frame rail, the driveability\handling may change, and may result in crack-out problems with the mounting brackets - you'll notice the fuel tank is not rigidly mounted - the straps allow some flex and movement as the chssis flexes.
If the water-tank is near the center-carrier bearing and the trans, the ds will have less side movement there, so you could mount it with less clearance than the fuel tank.
