Drive shaft grease fittings

Drive shaft grease fittings
Ok Guy's I'm quite sure you all have heard this before over and over but I have to ask so here go's! I had to replace my U joints on my 07 and the only kind that I could find that were greasable were from Precision. Well in an effort to save time and agrivation I brought the shaft to a local drive line shop and had them pressed in an out and told them to be sure that I could get to the grease fittings. Well I tried to grease them for the first time yesterday and could not get my grease gun tip to fully seat on the zerx fittings. My question is there a special tip that must be used to get into that spot? If so can someone tell me what that is? Also if anyone has the cardon needle size that would be great!
Thanks

Have to remove the 4 bolts from the pinion. Also, be sure to stick the transmission or the t-case in N so you can spin the shaft around to get better access the the zerk.

Loosen bolts?! What?? Sometimes the u-joint is installed backwards, the zerk facing or pointing the wrong direction. True, you might have to rotate the driveline to get it in the most "open" position but you should NEVER have to loosen anything to grease a zerk on a u-joint if installed properly.

There is also a needle type fitting for grease guns that you can use by just poking it in where that little seal ball is. Still works except you have to push the gun towards the grease nipple a bit harder. Same fitting I use for the front driveshaft CV joint.

Also saves switching fittings. I second you should never have to take it apart. If you do that you may as well disassemble clean and repack by hand. Forgot to mention that there are many different shapes and sizes of zerk fittings, perhaps a longer one or an angled one may work for you. There are also different physical sizes of grease fittings to fit a zerk fitting.

Just ran into the same problem with mine today. The easy solution is the needle tip or there is a tip that is cone shaped that can be pushed tightly against the grease fitting. I used the cone shaped tip today. It fits in very tight spaces and works well without being fragile like a needle tip.
