Does Winter Front Incresen MPG

Does the winter front increase MPG by keeping the engine warmer?

By no means am I a expert on this topic, but from what I know, if you do NOT use one in the colder climates it will hurt your fuel mileage. So I guess you need to ask yourself, can you afford NOT to get one?

W/ my blade grille on in June, my mileage went down .8 mpg. I haven't tried it on in the winter yet.

Our dodge diesels get there very worst mileage before they reach opp. temp. The quicker you can get them to opp. temp. the quicker you will start to get better mpg. The one thing that you have to watch when useing the winter front cover is blocking to much air that cools the auto tranny cooler.

Can the winter front be slid in between the radiators, so the intercooler and tranny cooler are left exposed? I haven't looked, so no idea.

Even if it could,it would block the air from flowing thru the radiators/Intercooler.

No worries on tranny cooler - I got a NV5600.

I think I'll go the cheap way & block it w/ cardboard.

I used cardboard last year and it worked fine. It is a heck of a lot cheaper than the winter front cover.

If you used the winter front you wouldn't mind paying the 100 dollars for it, because it is pretty sweet and very simple to take off and on and adjust for airflow.

Here if you buy it here in IA it's $125.00 + Tax, that buys a lot of fuel at $2.41 and cardboard cost nothing.

To each his own on the winterfronts verses the cardboard.I paid $100 for my dodge winterfront, the way I see it if I can afford a $40,000 dollar truck I can cough up another $100 bucks for the winterfront. coobie

Only issue I've seen with cardboard is to be sure to cut out the CENTER of the cardboard... line it up with the center of the fan... saw someone put one on that had the gap on one end...

the fan wasn't getting enough air, and would kick on all the time going down the highway..
