In YOUR ALL'S sigs how about GEAR RATIO? Just a thought when talking about fuel mileage, how heavy you pull and speeds driven.

I just turned 750 miles and I recently returned from a trip hauling a 7,000 lb travel trailer and averaged around 10.5mpg doing 70mph per the computer. Which rear end is better for mileage? 3.73 or 4.10?

I have not seen any improvement as far as mileage goes. I’ve only got 5K on it so far, so I’m hoping to see some improvement. I’ll have to check my log book, but I think I’m averaging around 12 – 13mpg, mostly city miles.

Hounddog ,

Mine's an automatic. Not positive on the rear gear ratio though, but I do have the limited slip diff. I'll have to check it when I get back home.

milage

getting 21 mpg hwy with 04.5 4x4 auto quad,,all stock,,stared at 17mpg,,,tryed to break her in by the book,,towed a 20ft enclosed car hauler 1400 miles when it had 650 miles on it( changed the oil and filter before i did that) got 12.5 mpg towing,,stayed at 52 miles per hour the first 500 miles of the tow, manual says to stay at 50 mph,,but I was on the ill. tollway with semis passing me every 30 seconds ( amazeing i lived through that one!), changed the oil and filter again after the tow. worked for me! getting 21 mpg doing 69 miles per hr. and that"s both ways! also i think truck stop diesel fuel is better,,,2600 mies on the odometer

ed paul,

Is your mileage hand calculated or overhead computer? Also what gear ratio are you running.

It would help us (to know what you have) if you filled out for signature at the bottom of these pages.

thanks for your input.

BTW I'm averaging 15mpg, hand calculated.

the tow was hand calculated,,,the rest is overhead computer,,next trip will be empty,,so I"ll hand calculate it,,,,as for city milage,,,i live in a big city,,milwaukee,,stop signs and stop light every5 blocks,,well,,u know what that does to mileage!so what does this average city and hwy milage mean?If u live in a small town with 2 stop lights,, ur gettinf 17 mpg city,,if u live in a large city with stop light every 5 block u get what? 12 mpg !the city driving milage really doesn"t concern me much cause there are to many variations, it takes alot of fuel to get all that wieght moving,,,,get out on the highway and reset ur overhead computer ,drive 60 or 100 miles,,turn around and come back,,just before u pull off the breeze way,,check ur overhead,,that will tell u ur highway mileage. just for the record,,i can cotton foot it around town and get 16 mpg if i hit enough green lights,,but I"m getting tired of playing that game! i bought this truck for the highway( thanks to the internet,,i now have a girl friend in tennessee ) and towing.
filled out my signature,,hope it shows up.
