dodge CP3/ duramax CP3

can anyone tell me if there is a difference in the d max CP3 pump, conpared to the dodge pump?
i am having issues with my pump, or regulator, so i swapped out the Fca with one from a d max. they look the same, right down the to same colour rubber orings.my pressures before where up and down at idle, between 3000,and 6000.it sounded like a lumpy cam,but the rpm's never changed.i started to notice that some times, not all times, the pressure would be really high at idle, and at a stop light, when green, starting off it would hesitate bad, then pick up.some thing else i noticed was the truck is harder to start.
i changed the fca with the d max one, which is brand new,and the pressure at idle is rock steady at 5000psi, but the problem now is that when i take off say from a light,it seems to stumble, drop in pressure, then pick up and its fine, while driving it seems to be fine, but will drop a few thousand psi when getting on it, then back up again.doesn't seem to run as high as pressure as before. i know that some guys run the dmax CP3 pump on the dual set ups, and wondering if that gets changed back to the dodge fca(regulator)
i have low pressure gauge too, and it reads about 17-18psi,pretty much all the time.i have about 350,000kms on the truck now, and wondering if the pump is going south, or just the fca, and if the dmax reads different values.
any help would be great.

Do you know what version dmax the FCA came from? LB7, LLY, LBZ??

LB7/LLY FCA's range from 1500mA current when its closed (minimum pressure), to 0mA at full pressure (160 mpa, 23,055psi).

I dont remember off the top of my head what the LBZ FCA's range from, but I know its a bit different.

The LBZ CP3 itself also flows a bit more. Its rated for 115 mm3 @ 180mpa. The LB7/LLY is rated for 110 mm3 @ 160mpa.

I dont know if that helps you or not...hopefully it should at least give you a starting point to compare to how the CTD controls the FCA, as far as what amount of current corresponds to what pressure.

yup that helps, every comment helps.
i didn't know how these worked, i thought they were the same, and the ecm controlled what that did.that tells me different.i might as well just try to clean my old one and stick it back in for what its worth.
wish i knew how big a job it was to change the CP3 on my truck, don't look near as hard as a d max, but you never know.

ok, so i just switched back to the dodge fca. the d max one was not letting my truck start for starters, and it was not getting the pressures under demand.the old one is back in and other then the psi jumping around, it starts fine, and runs fine.so i guess i will look into a modded pump for the very close future.
