Do I need injectors???
I'm trying to figure out if I need new injectors. I've read numerous threads on this forum, but this is my first post. It started out that my truck would not start below 40 degrees in the winter, so I would just keep it plugged in and it started like a champ every time. This went on for the past 3 yrs. but all of a sudden this summer it is having a real hard time starting after sitting a couple hours. once it starts it runs like a million bucks. Also, If I get it started, drive it around, turn it off and then start it again it starts right up. Any insight would be greatly appreciated before I go blow 3K on injectors... Thanks
P.S. truck has 250,000 miles on it

While this may/may not be your issue, the ECM has to see 3000 psi on fuel pressure at the injector before it will signal to fire. Old tired injectors (that you undoubtedly have) will have a lot of "leak back" and have trouble getting that pressure at start and there you go.
With that many miles-- have them checked out, it is probably replacement time.

The job is straight forward if you have wrenched before. Look here for instructions, just ignore the parts about switching tips http://www.glacierdieselpower.com/im...ip_install.pdf
I would call Exergy Performance for new injectors, will give you a good price as any and you will receive quality Bosch parts.

With that many miles I would set the valves and replace the FCA too.
Do you know if your lift pump is working? Being a 03 it will be block mounted unless converted to a intank pump, with the engine not running bump the starter, you should hear a pump running by the drivers side engine or fuel tank.
