Don't know all the differences but the 04 is different than the 04.5 and the 05 had a few changes somewhere along the line, here goes.

The 04 was a 305/555 engine and the auto was the 47RE for the HO version there was also a SO model, somewhere in here and maybe when they started producing the 04.5 with the 325/600 they went with the 48RE tranny.

For 05 they went with the 325/610, kept the 48RE auto and somewhere along the line changed the 6speed from the NV5600 to the G56 also heard they have moved to a dual mass flywheel.

Don't know of any changes to the 06 but haven't paid much attention as I am still paying for my 04.5. laugh]

Those with more info and knowledge will fill in the blanks and make corrections.[

Yes all HO autos have had the 48RE including 03 and up. You could not get an HO auto before the 03s because the 47RE was not able to handle the power reliably...

On the early 05's they had a plastic intercooler. Big Mistake! I think all of the 04.5's and late 05's have a metal intercooler.

Otherwise, I believe that they are the same mechanically. The 04.5's were rated 325 hp/ 600 tq from the factory...and the 05's have an updated "flash" program in the ECM which they rate at 325/610. If the 04.5's have the updated "flash" they are supposed to be a 325/610 also FWIW.

I believe there may be some slight emblem or decal change from 04.5 to 05.

I haven't heard of any changes coming for 06 in the engine/drivetrain dept. Just the styling changes to the front end and optional MEGA cab.
