Defuel @ 20mph?

I really need some help here. i have an early 04 cummins with edge/attitude. right now after engine start up my truck will accelerate to 20mph then its like it defuels, i can let off the gas and wait about a second and then proceed and it will work right with no more problems till i stop the engine and start up later. i unhooked the edge today and it still did the same. the first time i noticed it was the other day and my truck looses a little water so i have to keep an eye on it and i noticed that my edge said it was 225 when i was trying to accelerate. it hesitated and took off after a second or so, so i dont think it is related. and i did stop quickly and top off the water. sorry about how long, but i need some advise. Thanks

Can you remove the edge and see if it's that?

Sounds more like a transmission issue. Try and accel very slowly and/or hard and see if it goes through, just pick the way that is different then you normally drive.

Also set the attitude to monitor the gear selection and see if you can see it hang up when it tried to go into second.

If it was a relay in the transmission would i not get a check engine light? And im not for sure what to look at in the edge to look at gear selection, your talking about the transmission right?

Do you have a fuel gage? E/J shows that, right?

Also, you mention a cooling problem, I think the ECM defuels at a certain point, although it should throw a code too.

I guess I am assuming you have the attitude monitor, it has a selection for watching the actual gear the transmission is in. Maybe it was not an option for your year truck but it helped me see the 1-2 shuttle shift on my truck.

Mine did exactly what are you talking about. Mine ended up being a bad speed sensor on the trans. I could only shift in to second gear and topped out around 20 mph. 25 bucks at auto zone (usually in stock) and a 5 minute replacement. ----- That is if you have an auto?

Oh and yes it got progressively worse with time (somedays it would be fine some it wouldnt) and then one day it stayed in "limp" mode
